The Fogborn is the fourth monster added in Pillar Chase 2. It is a tall, shadowy entity based off of a Minecraft horror mod, The Man From The Fog and it's titular mob. It can currently be unlocked for 1250 coins in the shop.
Appearance
The Fogborn is based heavily on it's inspiration, though it has been given more detail and a more realistically humanoid appearance. It's gaping mouth lacks gums and has 8 long, glowing, and blood-tipped teeth, the lower 4 curving inward like fangs. The large eye sockets has pinprick eyes resembling stars, with small nostrils right below them. The skin is dark and rough, almost stone-like, with a deep brown tone, bordering on black. 12 spikes run down it's arms from it's shoulders, 6 on each arm, shrinking as they reach it's elbows. The Fogborn has 3 claws on each hand, 2 fingers and a thumb, and it's feet are small, two-toed talons, resembling that of a bird's.
Gameplay
The Fogborn has 100 Stamina, 25 Sprint Speed, and deals 30 DMG per hit. While it is the fourth fastest monster in the game, its stamina drains extremely fast making it harder to keep up long chases. It has two abilities: Thunder Warp and Foggy Stare. The Fogborn should be played as a sneak attacker, ambushing players while they aren't aware of its presence.
Keybind | Name | Ability | Description | Effect | XP |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Passive | N/A | The Fogborn's stamina completely refills when a player triggers Foggy Stare. | Fully refills stamina. | N/A | |
M1 | M1 | The Fogborn swipes its claws around itself twice, dealing 30 damage to any players near him.
When Foggy Stare is active, The Fogborn's M1 animation while sprinting is changed, causing it to bite the area directly in front of it. Its hitbox will be slightly tilted and its attack speed and recovery is faster. |
Deals damage to players. | 60 per hit | |
1 | Thunder Warp | When pressing 1, The Fogborn will strike lightning down onto its current location and disappear, becoming incredibly fast before reappearing in a second lightning strike with a second press. While Thunder Warp is active, it cannot attack, regeneration/drain of stamina stops, and The Fogborn begins emitting quiet storm sounds that become louder whenever it's near a player. When The Fogborn reappears, there is a 1.25s of endlag during which it cannot sprint or attack. For a second, all players will be highlighted after activating Thunder Warp. Both lightning strikes from entering and exiting Thunder Warp can be heard from across the map. Has a cooldown of 13 seconds. | Invisibility and greater mobility. | N/A | |
2 | Foggy Stare | When pressing 2, The Fogborn will whistle and stand still for about five seconds. If someone looks at it during this state, it will be struck by lightning, and the player that triggered the ability will be highlighted in red. For the duration of Foggy Stare, multiple things will occur. The Fogborn's sprint animation and attack animation will be replaced with a crawling animation and bite respectively, its stamina usage will be reduced, it will become incredibly fast, its M1 speed will become faster, and all players who haven't yet triggered Foggy Stare during that game will be "darkened" for about 3.5 seconds and will be immune to The Fogborn's attacks for the duration of the ability. After nine seconds, the effects of Foggy Stare will end.
Foggy Stare has a cooldown of 16 seconds and will only begin the cooldown once a player has triggered it or it times out. If the latter, The Fogborn will receive 40 stamina in return. |
Highlights a specific player, chasing players becomes easier, M1 turned into a bite + attack speed decrease. | N/A |

Beastiary Entry:
"The Fogborn is a creature that dwells in large bodies of water and is thought to be a myth by mere humans. It leaves the water during storms or during the fog to hunt for its prey, which are humans. It has inhuman capabilities that it uses to catch its prey such as: Lightning manipulation, extreme speed, high durability and its iconic "Foggy Stare"....Anyone who locks eyes with this creature will get put into a daze and becomes a sitting duck unable to run away or fight back against it. It is best to avoid large bodies of water during rainy weather or when the fog is around, you never know what is dwelling in there."

Trivia
- The Fogborn's model was made by TheBladeNinja.
- The Inspiration for The Fogborn, The Man From The Fog, was created after the creation of the Cave Dweller took over Minecraft horror mods.
- The Fogborn has the quickest kill animation out of any monster.
- The Fogborn, Vapor, Rosemary & Valem are currently the only monsters in the game to have come from a Minecraft mod.
- Valem is also from a Minecraft mod. To be specific, Valem originates from Beware The Rain, the same mod as Vapor and Rosemary.
- Despite this, the Beware The Rain characters do not count towards Minecraft representation in Pillar Chase 2; making Fogborn the only true Minecraft representative in this game.
- The Fogborn has the slowest walking speed of any monster.
- The Fogborn used to be the fastest monster in the game when Foggy Stare was triggered, at 28 sprint speed.
- However, ever since PCX's inclusion, as well as sprint speed changes to a few monsters in the Christmas 2024 update, this is no longer the case.
- The Fogborn is one of 6 monsters that have a space in their name. The other 5 being Ao Oni, Uncle Samsonite, The Forest King, Vita Mimic, and Jeffery Woods.
- BladeNinja has stated that The Fogborn is unable to close his mouth.
- Despite Fogborn swinging twice in his M1, his second swing does not deal damage.
- However, it could be thought that each swing does 15 damage, totaling to 30.
- If you use M1 while walking, The Fogborn is unable to sprint for a short time.
- It is unclear if this is a bug or to avoid cheesing The Fogborn's stamina drain.
- The Fogborn's Scarecrow skin was the first Ancient skin to not be based on an already existing character.
