The Forest King (abbreviated as TFK, Also known as Coronation Day Peach), initially teased June 2nd, 2024, and officially added June 28th, 2024, is the tenth monster in Pillar Chase 2. He is a malevolent spirit who has possessed the corpse of Princess Peach and torments Mario when he enters the forest looking for her. He is the main antagonist of the Super Mario World ROM Hack 'the (Also known as The Coronation Day). He can be unlocked for 1485 coins in the shop. (Previously 1985 before the Black Friday Event's conclusion).

Appearance[]

The Forest King takes on the form he took in the unused "Pink Forest" level in the original ROM hack: a disfigured, almost completely limbless version of Princess Peach. He has a torn and worn-down pink dress with what looks to be blood stains covering it and a pink, heart-shaped crystal brooch with a gold border on his chest. He has black horns sprouting from the top of his head with blood markings curling around them, and thick vines growing out of what remains of Peach's arms. His face is devoid of any eyes, pupils, or teeth, instead just being black voids in the shape of a large, eerie mouth and eyes.

Gameplay[]

The Forest King has 100 Stamina, 20 Sprint Speed, and deals 25-40 DMG per hit (Depending on whether he is sprinting or not). He is able to keep up with players easily and stay on their trail, but even when he is at a distance, he can still attack with projectiles and minions. He has 2 abilities: Glitching Blitz and Lurking Facade, the latter of which he primarily relies on to trap and get close to players while the former is mostly used for ambushes, chases, or to confuse players.

Keybind Name Ability Description Effect
Passive Again? Whenever The Forest King's heads touch a player, he regains 15 stamina and gains a slight speed boost for a short duration. When this occurs, text will pop-up at the bottom of the screen saying "again?", and The Forest King will make a screeching sound. Increased movement speed, recovers stamina.
M1 M1 While sprinting, The Forest King does a headbutt, dealing 25 damage to any player in front of him. This can kill in 4 hits. When walking or standing still, he will instead swing his arms downward, dealing 40 damage instead. This can kill in 3 hits. Deals damage to players.
1 Glitching Blitz When pressing 1, The Forest King begins to glitch out and fires a similarly glitchy projectile from his face in whatever direction he's looking. When this projectile hits a player, a glitchy static overlay will appear on their screen, making it harder to see and slowly damaging them. The projectile can go through walls. This also cannot kill players. Blinding/confusing players/dealing chip damage.
2 Lurking Facade When pressing 2, The Forest King will summon a transparent head to chase nearby players. When a player gets near one of these heads, a creepy ambience will play on their end, their vision will gain a red tint with the word "him" appearing in multiple places on their screen, and they will become highlighted for The Forest King. Upon touching players, the heads confine them to a glitchy root that limits their movement to only a small area around it. This root vanishes after 4.5 seconds. Up to five heads can exist at once. Highlights/traps players.

Trivia[]

  • The Forest King's model was made by TheBladeNinja.
  • The Forest King is the second monster to have his own unique victory theme, with the first being Baldi.
    • Whereas Baldi's victory theme is heard by all players, The Forest King's victory theme is exclusively heard by the player playing as him. It is unknown why this is the case.
  • The Forest King’s chase music and victory theme are both ripped from his game of origin.
  • The Forest King is referred to with male pronouns, being a male deity possessing the female corpse of Princess Peach, much to the confusion of most players who don't know about his origin game.
  • The Forest King is the second monster to have an ability to summon minions, the first being Vapor. The main difference is that Vapor's Spider Skulls damage players, but are killable, while the Forest King's floating heads are unkillable, but can only locate and trap players and vanish when 'attacking'.
  • The Forest King’s original unlock cost of 1985 is a reference to the year when the original Super Marios Bros game came out. He shared this pricing with MX, which tied them for the most expensive monster in the game until the Black Friday Update's conclusion.
  • Sometimes, The Forest King's introductory text will change from "again?" to "WELCOME TO MY FOREST.", with pink text color instead of the usual white.
    • Additionally, there is a small chance for The Forest King's introduction text to change to "are you looking for me?" or "I AM THE GOD OF THIS FOREST" on any map. Both quotes are references to some of the Forest King's original dialogue from 'the.
    • Some believe these rare quotes trigger because the map is the Forest map, but this is false as it can trigger on other maps.
  • The Forest King is the 2nd monster in the game that is released to be remodeled. The first being Vapor
    • The reason for why The Forest King received a remodel is because BladeNinja knew that he didn't like the model he created due to a lack of proper knowledge on women's anatomy, so he eventually figured that he could just leave it up to his girlfriend Froggy to create a better looking design.
  • It is implied that The Forest King's vessel is decaying away and if so, it is unknown if he would die or switch to another host.
  • Whenever a player gets caught by lurking facade, it shows different text each time in the bottom left corner.
