Origin[]

Vita Mimic originates from a YouTube analog horror series named 'Vita Carnis', created and owned by Darian Quilloy. The Mimic is one of the eight members of the Carnis species along with The Host Of Influence, who might appear later in Pillar Chase 2 . The Mimics are know to be an apex predator, every feature of their body is designed for killing and eating. They are one of the only creatures on the planet to be above humanity on the food chain. A spot rightfully theirs, as Mimics only kill and consume humans once they mature. Adolescents of the species have an intelligence that rivals a younger human. This is utilized by carefully selecting a target they deem vulnerable, stalking the target for days or even weeks on end, watching their routine to find an optimal time and place to ambush, and then kill the prey.

Design[]

Mimics are thin, tall, and gangly meat-based creatures, with extremely humanoid proportions. Most features are exaggerated enough to distinguish them from an ordinary person's shape. The flesh over their body is red in color with streaks of white where ligaments and tendons are present, very tightly taught over their bones, and appears to always be moist. Their legs are digitigrade, and for a Mimic's size, they possess very small feet, with five splayed toes. Their arms are extremely long, reaching down just past their knees. With extremely large hands and fingers, which the distal phalanxes of are all sharpened to act as claws. The head of the Mimic has a large grinning maw, although this is due to skull structure, and is not a true expression. The mouth is filled almost entirely with incisors, with a few canines and premolars at the back. They have no nose, instead featuring an open nasal cavity nearly identical to a human's. The eyes of a Mimic are bulbous and dilated to the point to where the sclera is barely visible. These eyes lack eyelids.

There are two evolutions a Mimic can go through once fully matured.[]

The adult stage of a Mimic is gained through having a stable food source. They'll grow a coat of skin, and begin wearing clothes in order to blend into society fully. This makes catching and tracking a target even easier, as they no longer have to remain completely unseen to stalk prey.

The second is when a Mimic has an overabundance of food. When this happens they will grow exponentially taller, a coating of thick black flesh will encase their entire figure excluding the face, which will instead be covered in a smooth soft whitish-pink flesh. All the Mimic's teeth will move into the back of it's throat, leaving it's gums completely barren. This evolution is aptly named an Elder Mimic, described as God's ultimate warriors, the perfect killing machine. These Mimics are extremely rare, and even more intelligent than any other Mimic variant. They can seemingly understand human speech, and have been depicted to toy with victims through vocal imitation. Physically, the skin of an Elder is resistant to all conventional weapons. The eyes can be used as a weak point for firearms, but it will only stall the Mimic, doing no fatal damage.

Games/Media[]

Mimic search[]

The Mimic appears at the end of the game as the only threat and is somewhat represented as it is in the analog horror.

Pillar chase[]

Vita Mimic is the thirteenth monster to be added but however was intended to be the ninth monster added. Vita Mimic's playstyle relies on sneaking up to a lone target undetected, and then quickly picking them off or pursuing them until they can no longer escape. It's moveset contains two abilities, the first of which allows Vita Mimic to become much more difficult to detect, and the second allows it to highlight survivors, and those survivors highlighted and hit by Vita Mimic will be applied with a fast acting damage dealing debuff. It's speed is almost as fast as a survivor leading for the Mimic to be able to stay on players for long amounts of time and secure kills efficiently. The best way to counter the Mimic is if you are aware of your surroundings, paying attention to noise and the in-game heartbeat. This generally means it can not sneak up on you. Vita Mimic is one point slower than a survivor, so maintaining a good distance from it will make it almost impossible for it to catch up to you. Long hallways are excellent for this purpose, as it means it cannot cut corners to close the distance on you. As long as you are aware of it and maintaining your stamina, it will waste precious time catching up to you. When a Mimic player is using Elder Ascension your priorities should be in order: finding the direction they are coming from, and if they have you as their target. Bait out their attack by running through them or using a flashbang so they leave Elder Ascension, losing the benefits that the ability provides them.

Current[]

Vita Mimic currently only remains as apart of the Vita Carnis analog horror, which is current in it's second season and has featured Mimics heavily thus far. As well as the fangame 'Mimic search' made by Gemezl. Since it's release in Pillar Chase 2, Vita Mimic has been considered to be among the stronger monsters in the game due to its ability to secure quick kills through sneaking up on unsuspecting players. However, Vita Mimic is also one of the least played monsters in the game due to having a high skill floor, and being from a less mainstream series. Many players don’t have much in-depth knowledge or strong opinions on it, and typically write it off as boring as it only kills via its basic attack. It has seen a small resurgence due to a recent Vita Carnis episode heavily featuring an Elder Mimic, but the player count still remains overall low.
